    Supervisor __________
    1221 Oak Street, Suite #536
    Oakland, CA 94612

    Dear Supervisors:

We voted to write to you because we are alarmed that hackable voting machines were approved for Alameda County. We are grateful that the Board of Supervisors at least agreed to insist on independent security testing of those machines, and thank you for that, but we hope you are aware that THERE WAS NO TESTING, only a whitewashed "assessment." Please do not approve the county's fake "security report" which does not state that there are no vulnerabilities. Again we have a county purchasing a voting system for millions of dollars that is not safe from "fraud or manipulation". Will taxpayers and pollworkers again have to foot the bill and do the extra work to compensate for the delivery of a defective product?

You voted on June 8 to have the WHOLE SYSTEM tested, including the SOFTWARE. Please stick to that wise decision. We need meaningful voting system testing, to make sure votes are counted as cast. We want proof--by having a qualified independent techie try to hack them--that these voting systems are secure from attacks. A genuine security and vulnerability test--what you voted for and what your constituents want and deserve--requires penetration testing, aka "hack" testing. So please TABLE the fake test and require the Registrar of Voters to produce the legitimate security assessment you voted for in June.

We are aware that though there will only be one machine per precinct, for disabled access, any voter who wishes may use those hackable machines. That is enough to throw an election. What is decided in the Bay Area can affect national decisions.

Thank you for the attention you have accorded this matter. Please respond. We have members from all districts.

    Sincerely,

Nobody, and no machine, should be counting American votes in secret.
